EIR Scientist 1
to join our Austin, TX team. Responsibilities
The successful candidate will work with experienced professional consultants in performing soil and groundwater investigation and remediation projects related to petroleum and hazardous waste sites. Support current and upcoming projects within Texas as an Environmental Scientist, conducting site investigation field activities including environmental site assessments, hazardous waste site investigations, and field sampling (soil, groundwater, air, surface water and stormwater). Log soil borings, oversee groundwater monitoring well installation and contaminated soil excavations; conduct data analyses and interpretation of field and analytical data. Prepare technical reports including environmental reports, permit applications, work plans, and health and safety plans. Preference given to candidates with groundwater/soil sampling experience and familiarity with the Texas Commission of Environmental Quality Petroleum Storage Tank (PST) program and Texas Risk Reduction Program (TRRP). Independently manage project tasks with limited supervision; travel within Texas as needed (75-95% fieldwork). Possess the 40-Hour HAZWOPER training and at least 1 year of relevant experience; GIT or PG license or ability to obtain is preferred. Willing to work as part of a team and independently in office and field on small and large projects. Opportunities for advancement within the organization. Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Sciences, Biology, or other applied science. Minimum 1 year of field-related environmental work experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint). Strong written and oral communication skills; excellent time management and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple assignments. Ability to work independently and in a team; willingness to travel within Texas for extended periods. Some assignments may require up to a week out of town. Hours may vary; field work may involve 8-12 hour shifts. Valid driver’s license and ability to pass Motor Vehicle Record and Drug Screening. Technical Requirements
Understanding of routine tasks associated with environmental inspections and assessments, subsurface investigations, or environmental remediation projects (soil, groundwater, vapor sampling, subsurface drilling); logging of soil borings; oversight of groundwater monitoring well installation and contaminated soil excavations. Ability to independently conduct field soil and groundwater sampling and prepare daily field reports and regulatory reports. Experience preparing Excel tables and field summaries for regulatory-driven soil, groundwater, and remediation system reports; knowledge of environmental field equipment (PID, water quality meter, interface probe, survey equipment). Working knowledge of Texas PST program and TRRP. Other Qualities
OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification and current refresher preferred. Commitment to safe work practices and adherence to company guidelines. Willingness to cross-train in other areas (wetlands, industrial hygiene, environmental compliance). GIT or PG License, or ability to obtain such license is preferred. Benefits
