Overview
Per Diem Educational Consultant (K-12 Math) role at Savvas Learning Company. The onsite representative delivers core content, intervention and supplemental professional development, Change of Practice, and job-embedded services. Provides individual and group support to district personnel and school faculty to incorporate effective strategies into classroom practice. Delivers professional development and technical assistance to schools contracted with Savvas for professional development and job-embedded services. Requires deep knowledge of academia, standards-based reform, and the ability to deliver high-quality job-embedded professional development and site-based technical support using Savvas products, technology resources, and research-based methodologies for school turnaround. Preferred candidates have 5+ years of successful K-12 teaching experience and may demonstrate knowledge of Savvas products and experience coaching/training teachers and teacher leaders. Candidates must be local to the Northeast region.
Primary Responsibilities
Effectively implement classroom components and resources in the program, applying the program’s philosophy, pedagogy, and basic organization. Implement each segment of the daily instructional block and differentiate instruction based on student need. Manage a Savvas curriculum classroom, technology integration, and devices. Utilize data and reporting tools to impact instruction and decision making. Model coaching conversations that support administrators with providing effective teacher feedback.
Job-Embedded Coaching and Modeling
Coach teachers to apply the program’s philosophy, pedagogy, and organization. Differentiate instruction based on teacher/student needs.
Observation and Support
Observe classroom practices following professional development to identify implementation progress of the Savvas program. Provide teachers with critical feedback to guide implementation progress of key instructional features. Provide feedback on observed practices learned from Model Lesson/Lesson Study opportunities.
Data-Based Decision Making
Use dashboards within the product (Performance and Assignment). Differentiate instruction based on student needs.
Administrator Support
Utilize Savvas program tools to determine implementation needs. Observe strategies and practices in the instructional block and provide teachers with feedback on implementation. Understand and identify the program’s philosophy, pedagogy, and organization.
Administrator Coaching
Classroom/instructional coaching and facilitation of training to support implementation. Provision of onsite technical support and ongoing communication with school and district leaders.
Qualifications
B.A. or B.S. required; M.A. preferred. Experience offering workshops/coaching to teachers. Experience with classroom-based technology integration and differentiated instruction. Demonstrated success as a classroom teacher and at least five years of experience in K-12 Math. Strong collaboration, team-building, and communication skills. Knowledge of standards-based reform, curriculum, instruction, and assessment; ability to plan strategically with school leaders and teachers. Ability to provide instructional support related to effective teaching strategies using instructional technology. Strong problem-solving and presentation skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Desired Qualifications
Scaffolding instruction for English Language Learners and students with disabilities. Certification in bilingual education (preferred). Strategies for effective classroom use of instructional technology. Experience in virtual teaching and learning. Programs and services to support community outreach.
