The NYC Department of Design and Construction’s Division of Infrastructure is seeking a Junior Engineer (Capital / Scope) to join the Program Management’s Engineering and Support Services - FEP/Drainage Planning and Modeling / Capital /Scope Engineering team.
The successful candidate will report to an Engineer-In-Charge and will work on complex project planning and preliminary design analysis supporting City initiatives and projects for the Department of Transportation (DOT) and Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), including Long Term Control Planning for roadway, sewer, and water main projects.
The selected candidate will receive hands-on training and assist with engineering tasks such as research studies, investigations, and examinations related to engineering functions. Work may include drainage and grading analysis, structural computations, preliminary design, drafting, field surveys, site inspections, and cost estimating.
Authorization to work in the United States is required. NYC Department of Design and Construction does not sponsor international employees. Applicants must meet all qualifying requirements at the time of application.

A baccalaureate degree in civil engineering from an accredited college. Degrees in other engineering areas or civil engineering technology are not acceptable.
Preferred Skills
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD
Construction knowledge relevant to infrastructure work (roadway, sewer, water main)
Familiarity with NYC DOT, NYS DOT, NYC DEP specifications, MUTCD, and AASHTO standards
Understanding of NYC infrastructure and current engineering practices
Proficiency in Primavera P6 scheduling and ENV SP credential (preferred)
Valid driver’s license (required)
Personal vehicle (optional)
