Obsidian Solutions Group (OSG) is seeking a Game & Simulation Developer to join our team. This is a hybrid position based in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a TS security clearance. Preference for candidates who are local to the Washington DC metro area or willing to relocate.
Overview The ideal candidate will work in a multi-disciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and subject matter experts (SMEs) to conceptualize, develop, and test custom interactive experiences and tools for training and operational use by US warfighters and responders in the fire prevention and protection, nuclear emergency response, and CBRNE mission space.
Responsibilities
Learn the details of specific missions and tactics performed by responders and warfighters in the fire prevention and protection and CBRNE mission space and program behaviors and decision trees to control agent movement and actions within a simulated environment.
Study and replicate real-world devices and tools so that they function appropriately and in a realistic manner within the simulated environment.
Participate in the storyboarding, previsualization, and prototyping of new interactive experiences using the latest / custom immersive hardware for augmented reality and virtual reality (AR/VR).
Work with scientists and engineers to integrate and visualize both pre-computed and real-time data into the simulated environment.
Maintain clear documentation of all development activities, produce weekly reports, and support and mentor other team members to increase understanding and opportunities for synergy across the multi-disciplinary team.
Continuously learn and implement new software methods and hardware technologies for potential integration into future projects.
Attend game developer and sponsor hosted conferences and outreach functions as needed to engage sponsors, attract future clients, and inspire both college students and working professionals to join the team.
Requirements
4+ years of experience, with BS in Computer Science or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.
Unity game-engine experience and writing logic in C#. Experience with NavMeshAgents, terrain development, UI/UX development, Mecanim, debugging in Visual Studio, code optimizations and multi-threading, customizing/applying shaders, working with motion-capture data, and optimizing meshes for LOD systems.
Developing projects for immersive hardware such as VR headsets and using ARCore or ARKit for building augmented reality projects in Unity.
3D modeling and asset development with Blender, Photoshop, Adobe Suite.
Python coding for data processing and analysis.
Experience with rapid-prototyping interactive concepts, ideally for STEM subjects with a focus on improving human performance or increasing situational awareness.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience in technical writing and public speaking.
Experience with developing local and cloud-based multi-player experiences.
Knowledgeable in current technologies, methods, and trends in the game development industry.
Desired Skills
Additional experience with 3D printing, 3D scanning, photogrammetry, GIS software and data types, Raspberry Pi development, robotics, ML, AI, and computer vision.
Experience with microcontroller development, wireless networked communications, and integrating sensors and data processing.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Normal office environment.
