Job Title: Assistant, Associate or Professor in Plastic Surgery - Hand Requisition Number: FE04534 Department: 7H858:SURGERY/PLASTIC Location: Lexington, KY Type: Faculty, Full-Time, Non-Tenure Track Required Education: M.D or equivalent Required Related Experience: Completion of residency and a Hand Fellowship Required License/Registration/Certification: Board Eligible/Board Certified in Plastic Surgery, eligible for Subspecialty Certificate in Surgery of the Hand (SOTH); Current, or eligibility to obtain, medical licensure in the state of Kentucky Responsibilities
The Division of Plastic Surgery at the University of Kentucky, College of Medicine is seeking a full-time Hand and microvascular surgeon to join its academic faculty. All ranks will be considered. The faculty member will have the opportunity to teach residents, engage in research, and participate in clinical program development. Focus area will primarily be Hand Surgery, with potential involvement in micro-breast reconstruction, lymphedema surgery, oncologic and traumatic reconstruction, and an aesthetic practice. All candidates must have completed a Hand Fellowship with eligibility for the Subspecialty Certificate in Surgery of the Hand (SOTH) and be either ABPS board certified or in the process of certification. Support for an academic career with opportunities for clinical practice, research, and education; research is an important component with peer-reviewed funding and substantial publication activity. About the Program and Environment
UK HealthCare is a 920-bed healthcare complex; the division includes seven board-certified surgeons with interests in microvascular, Hand, and Craniofacial Surgery. The Hand Center is a collaboration between the Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Plastic Surgery. Patient visits are approaching 12,000 per year; Hand Therapy is embedded with over 1,000 visits per month. The division supports a 6-year integrated residency program and a Hand Fellow rotation among Plastic Surgery and Orthopedic Hand faculty. Application Process
