The incumbent reports to the Accounting Manager and will perform accounts receivable processing and related duties, with additional responsibilities in accounts payable support as assigned. Responsibilities

Know and apply all accounts receivable processing procedures, related regulations, policies and procedures. Calculate correct billings for customers, including discounts, sales and use taxes, and other billable charges. Prepare documents and code/input them into a computerized accounting system; correct errors as needed using independent judgment. Provide support to various areas within the accounts payable unit. Review data for accuracy and completeness; maintain accounting records and produce financial reports as required. Post information to journals, registers, and ledgers; balance and reconcile assigned accounts; assist with testing of financial software during upgrades and implementations. Create and maintain spreadsheets, run queries, and assist with web content updates as applicable. Follow established procedures, communicate university policies, and assist with documentation and process improvements. Key Qualifications

Comprehensive knowledge of financial record-keeping, basic GAAP, and general office methods and procedures. Ability to use initiative and judgment within standard practices and guidelines. Ability to interpret and apply university policies and regulations; follow directions and work without direct verification. Ability to compile, reconcile, analyze, review, and verify financial documents for accuracy and completeness. Strong mathematical skills and ability to post information rapidly and accurately to vouchers, billings, journals, and ledgers. Ability to identify and correct data in documents and reports; review web pages and recommend updates. Ability to maintain files and records; establish effective working relationships; exercise tact and good judgment in interactions. Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, and integrated financial systems; experience with PeopleSoft Finance or similar systems is a plus. Demonstrated history of regular attendance and positive performance. Education And Experience

Combination of experience and education providing knowledge and abilities listed above; at minimum, equivalent to four years of accounts receivable and accounts payable experience or closely related financial record-keeping experience. Preferred: experience processing AR billings (discounts, sales and use tax, other billable charges), experience using PeopleSoft Finance or another computerized accounting system, and collections experience. Two or more years of college with an accounting emphasis; CSU or higher education/government experience; proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; demonstrated customer service history.
