Performs highly complex (senior-level) technical accounting support work. Work involves performing detailed assignments in recording, classifying, examining, and verifying financial records, documents, or reports. Works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for initiative and independent judgment. May be required to work in excess of 40 hours per week. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Classifies, codes, posts, and balances financial accounting documents and records. Compiles statistical, financial, accounting, or auditing reports and tables pertaining to cash receipts, expenditures, and accounts payable and receivable. Calculates, prepares, and issues bills, invoices, account statements, and other financial statements according to established procedures. Computes, analyzes, prepares, and processes purchase or travel vouchers. Prepares payment, cash, general journal, and related vouchers. Assists with researching and reconciling discrepancies in accounts, bank statements, or appropriation balances; and reports findings. Assists with the preparation of financial statements and operating reports. Assists with an annual inventory of equipment and supplies. Assists with tracking invoices to ensure payments are made. May perform payroll-related activities. May perform financial calculations such as amounts due, interest charges, balances, discounts, equity, and principal. May audit and approve field operating reports, vouchers, claims, invoices, requisitions, estimates, purchase orders, statements, and similar records. May receive cash, prepare deposit slips, and maintain cash control records. May assist in monitoring the budget. Reports any presence or perception of racial, ethnic, and/or gender disparities. Performs a variety of related duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed. Performs all duties in compliance with agency safety policies and procedures: Reports safety hazards and corrects hazards when possible. Completes required documentation in the event of an accident/injury within requested time frames. Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency attendance and leave policies. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High School diploma or equivalent. Three (3) years of full-time wage earning experience in bookkeeping, accounting, finance, or payroll. Experience and Education Substitutions: Completed course hours of undergraduate study may be substituted for up to four years of experience on a basis of 30 course hours for one year of experience. Experience requirements may be satisfied by the prorated part-time equivalent. Note: Any degree, diploma, high school equivalent, or course hours required to meet minimum qualifications must be obtained from an accredited educational institution. This position is subject to mandatory pre-employment drug testing and any offer of employment is contingent upon acceptable results from a drug screen conducted for the agency. Knowledge of: Generally accepted accounting principles and procedures affecting the maintenance of accounting records and automated accounting systems. Agency policies, procedures, rules, and regulations. Skill in: Use of a computer, applicable software, and other standard office equipment. Ability to: Review work for accuracy; Accurately perform detailed numerical work; Make arithmetical computations; Prepare financial and accounting records; Maintain a system of record keeping, tracking, and reporting of data; Prioritize and manage multiple tasks; Plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments and meet deadlines; Process information logically, make decisions, and demonstrate the soundness of those decisions; Communicate effectively; Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; Work in excess of 40 hours per work week.
