Job Opportunity: Cardiac Surgeon at Columbia University

The Department of Surgery at the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University is accepting applications for a faculty position. The Division of Cardiac, Thoracic & Vascular Surgery seeks a Board-Certified Cardiac Surgeon to qualify for the rank of Assistant Professor. Qualifications: High level of expertise in adult cardiac surgery 3-5 years of experience with mechanical circulatory support and heart transplantation Responsibilities: Manage a busy cardiogenic shock program in collaboration with heart failure and interventional cardiologists Preoperative assessment, operative management, and postoperative care of cardiac surgical patients Contribute to the growth of a high-volume, high-quality program with a comprehensive range of heart failure treatments, including heart transplantation, implantable left ventricular assist devices, and cardiogenic shock therapy Strong interest in fostering professional relationships that support programmatic growth and development is essential. Additional Qualifications: Excellent clinical judgment, technical skills, and professionalism Interest in and history of peer-reviewed publications In addition to clinical duties, the incumbent will teach medical students, residents, fellows, and physician extenders. Responsibilities include participation in the academic and research missions of the University and the Department of Surgery. Educational Requirements: MD or foreign equivalent Completion of ACGME Thoracic Surgery Fellowship or Integrated Cardiothoracic Surgery Residency Board certified/eligible, American Board of Thoracic Surgery or foreign equivalent Columbia University is an Equal Opportunity Employer / Disability / Veteran.
