Overview
Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) is seeking a Systems Security Engineer II as part of the Intelligence, Surveillance & Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area. SNC is a leading prime for manned and unmanned aircraft systems, providing end-to-end C4ISR capabilities including design, integration, test, certification, ground/flight training, and complete logistics support. This role focuses on designing, testing, and implementing secure operating systems and networks, with responsibilities spanning security monitoring, incident response, risk assessments, and the deployment of security controls aligned with the IT security strategy. Responsibilities
Design, test, and implement secure classified information systems, networks, environments, and capabilities Manage and engineer cybersecurity capabilities at SNC including network tools, data loss prevention, monitoring/visibility tools, and enterprise agents Ensure comprehensive documentation of information systems, functionalities, compliance, standards, and processes Conduct risk and vulnerability assessments; develop and implement security controls Collaborate with other teams across SNC to perform security assessments, provide guidance, and promote a security-focused culture Participate in acquisition meetings, CONOP working groups, change boards, technical exchange meetings, and related activities Assist in the design and deployment of systems and networks with multiple enclaves and differing data protection/classification requirements (IAW NIST SP 800-53, ICD 503, RMF, and CNSSI 1253) Apply best practices for security requirements, MBSE methodologies, secure design/architecture, and secure coding techniques Qualifications
Qualifications You Must Have:
Bachelor's degree in Systems Security, Network Engineering, Information Technology, or related Engineering discipline and typically 2+ years of relevant experience A higher-level degree may substitute for experience Related experience may be considered in lieu of required education Strong communication skills and ability to work with vendors, contractors, and DoD organizations Professional writing skills for detailed reports to enable senior leadership decisions Positive, solution-oriented mindset in high-paced environments Understanding of change and configuration management principles per DoD policies Experience with Windows or Linux operating systems DoD 8140 Certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CySA+, CASP+, CISA, ISC2 SSCP) Active Secret U.S. Security Clearance with ability to Obtain Top Secret Qualifications We Prefer:
Track record of protecting high-sensitivity data Ability to perform critical-incident response Knowledge of DoD/government contracting policies and procedures Ability to read and interpret security and technical documents Strong Windows, Linux, and Azure IL4/6 background Experience with STIG, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) Scripting/automation skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell) Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify vulnerabilities Experience implementing and maintaining compliance controls Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Windows Server administration Additional Information
Estimated Starting Salary Range: $94,345.12 - $129,724.54. Compensation varies by skills, experience, education, and certifications. The posting may be extended based on business needs. SNC offers a generous benefits package including medical/dental/vision, 401(k) with 150% match up to 6%, life insurance, paid time off, tuition reimbursement, and more.
