Overview
Director of Attorney Recruiting, Miller Canfield. We are seeking a Staff Attorney to join our Immigration Practice in the Detroit, Michigan office. This is a full-time, hybrid/flex-time position.
Our dedicated immigration team provides comprehensive U.S. and outbound immigration services and solutions for clients across a variety of industries, including preparation of immigrant and non-immigrant visa petitions, compliance audits and government investigations, and corporate training. The staff attorney will provide sophisticated counsel and advice to firm clients on employment and some family-based immigration matters. Responsibilities include initial case strategy discussion, eligibility assessment for non-immigrant and immigrant visa classifications, preparation of petitions and applications, research of complex immigration issues, publishing immigration alerts, and speaking at client and industry seminars/events.
Responsibilities
Engage in initial case strategy discussions with clients and team members.
Assess eligibility for non-immigrant and immigrant visa classifications.
Prepare various petitions and applications; conduct research on complex immigration issues.
Publish immigration alerts and speak at client and industry seminars/events.
Supervise and direct paralegals and legal assistants; demonstrate strong organizational and planning skills.
Qualifications
3-6 years of experience in employment-based immigration matters (e.g., H-1B, E-1/E-2, Blanket L, L-1A/L-1B, TN, PERM, employment-based green cards).
Some experience with family-based immigration is preferred.
Knowledge of INSZoom strongly preferred.
Outstanding interpersonal, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to supervise and direct paralegals and legal assistants.
Must be licensed and in good standing in Michigan or eligible for admission by examination or waiver.
