Highmark Health Job Description :

Lead Data Scientist, Research & Development, Graph Intelligence. The role leads in designing and evaluating graph-native analytical solutions in healthcare, focusing on network relationships, knowledge graphs, and Graph Machine Learning to address healthcare challenges such as patient pathways, disease progressions, treatment efficacy, fraud detection, and population health dynamics. This premier R&D position involves inventing and proving transformative graph analytics, building and enriching knowledge graphs, developing Graph Neural Networks (GNNs), graph convolutional networks (GCNs), graph attention networks (GATs), and other advanced network algorithms. Responsibilities include designing rigorous experiments, creating proof-of-concept models, and evaluating performance and interpretability for real-world applicability. You will work as a relational data innovator, identifying opportunities to construct healthcare knowledge graphs by integrating patient, provider, claims, and clinical data to uncover patterns and drive actionable insights. Required and Preferred qualifications span graph databases, distributed graph processing, GML libraries, cloud and MLOps, research publication, and healthcare data familiarity. Location:

Office-based environment with collaboration across teams and external partners. Essential Responsibilities

Work directly with the business to understand processes and aims, identify how analytical solutions can deliver value, and be accountable for: outlining new use cases and high-level impact estimates, identifying data elements and sources (including proxies), and assembling data sets using Highmark data structures.

Deliver analytical solutions to multiple complex business problems simultaneously; document objectives, assumptions, and processes, and evolve standards as needed.

Select and apply appropriate advanced modeling techniques to these data sets to deliver business insight, demonstrating proficiency across a substantial set of methods (e.g., regression, tree-based methods, neural networks, clustering, NLP).

Consult with the business to contextualize results in accessible formats (written reports, presentations, data visualizations) that link analyses to business objectives and frontline workflow.

Plan, prepare, and deliver analyses largely independently, on-time and ready for production, including planning implementation routes.

Provide expertise and leadership on major projects within ED&A, fostering external credibility through conferences, white papers, and collaboration; mentor others.

Other duties as assigned or requested.
