UCSF Health Job Summary The Department of Pharmaceutical Services provides a full range of services for patients cared for by the UCSF Medical Center and its providers and payors. These services include, but are not limited to: drug procurement, storage, and security; safe, accurate and timely preparation and distribution of drugs; clinical pharmacy services for patients; development of drug use policies within the Medical Center; drug information services for clinicians and patients; and participation in technology assessment and quality assurance programs. The Department of Pharmaceutical Services is affiliated with the UCSF Department of Clinical Pharmacy, an academic department within the School of Pharmacy, which has primary responsibility for teaching professional courses in the Pharm.D. curriculum, clinical research, and public and clinical service. Under Pharmaceutical Services, the Pharmacy Technician II provides pharmaceutical care to patients at Parnassus, Mission Bay, and Mount Zion campuses and specialized services to researchers on campus. All Pharmacy Technicians are accountable to the supervising or operating pharmacist who is legally responsible by virtue of state licensure for the care and safety of patients served by Pharmaceutical Services. The Pharmacy Technician II performs all activities related to medication preparation, inventory management, and computer entries of prescriptions. Salary Range The salary range for this position is $36.05 - $44.91 (Hourly Rate). Department Description The Department of Pharmaceutical Services at UCSF has long been nationally recognized as one of the founding fathers for clinical pharmacy services, which was established in 1965. Today, the department continues to lead the profession through the integration of advanced technology & robotics, comprehensive pharmaceutical care and clinical services. Required Qualifications
Completion of a recognized/accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program (includes hands-on training period during externship), or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum two (2) years’ experience as a Pharmacy Technician in hospitals or health care, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Qualifications
Pharmacy Technician Certification CPhT Preferred candidates with at least two years of I.V. Additives experience Knowledge of USP 797/800 standards, hazardous and aseptic IV techniques for sterile compounding Knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint software programs, Pyxis machine, and Primary Engineering Control (PEC) License/Certification
