Overview

Sr. Field Application Engineer - AI Customers - Connectors - Remote located in Bay Area, CA at TE Connectivity. TE Connectivity’s Field Application Engineering Teams work with customers to recommend products and solutions for new and existing applications, identify new applications and requirement modifications, and conduct on-site installation and service of products. The FAE is responsible for all technical aspects of the sales cycle for potential applications to meet customer needs, including identifying opportunities, determining solutions, creating demand, preparing detailed product specifications and technical marketing support, ensuring high quality and timely project execution, and conducting follow-up technical support. The incumbent will serve as a technical resource for customers’ engineers and program managers and will interface between TE Connectivity’s sales and engineering organizations and our customers.

Responsibilities

Be the initial point of contact for the customer’s local engineering group.

Function as the technical interface between the customer’s engineers and the TE engineering community on all existing products and new product development opportunities.

Contribute to new product development opportunities for TE at the customer, including conceptual design modeling.

Interact directly with key customers daily; coordinate deliverables related to customer projects (new products, modifications, test studies, signal integrity modeling, and other development efforts).

Establish relationships with key customer engineering contacts and decision makers.

Understand the customer’s product set and future roadmap; gain knowledge of TE Digital Data Networks products and roadmap.

Use VOC (Voice of Customer) tools to understand the accounts’ technology and communicate needs to internal TE teams to initiate projects.

Support a cross-functional, global team specific to the customer (Program Manager, Quality Engineering, Logistics, Procurement, Operations, Sales).

Penetrate the customer’s design cycle to be involved in early stages of new product/platform planning and ensure alignment with customer needs.

Represent and advocate for the customer; support existing applications and products including tolerance analysis, application evaluation, and testing.

Qualifications

BS degree in Engineering required (Mechanical / Systems discipline preferred).

4 – 8 years of engineering experience in connector knowledge.

Knowledge of general manufacturing processes (stamping, molding, plating, automated assembly) is desirable.

Experience in development engineering and full product development cycle.

Knowledge of electronics components, preferably in connectors, electronics relays, or wire & cable.

Demonstrated project leadership and ability to organize and prioritize.

Strong interpersonal, negotiating, and communication skills across all organization levels.

Computer proficiency including 3D design applications.

Ability and willingness to travel regionally as required.

Ability to work independently with strong networking, influencing, and listening skills.

Experience reading/interpreting production-level drawings and basic tolerance analysis.

Compensation and Benefits

Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: 133,800 – 167,200 USD (location-dependent).

Total compensation includes base salary plus incentives and benefits.
