Code, abstract, and conduct charge quality review on emergency department, same day surgery, outpatient clinic, observation, and inpatient encounters Assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes according to CMS requirements for both professional and hospital billing Achieve and maintain a 95% accuracy rate on quality reviews and assigned productivity standards Verify, edit, and enter charges based on documentation or payer/billing requirements Stay updated on developments in health information management and integrate knowledge into current work practices Qualifications
High school diploma required; completion of an approved coding program or graduation from a Health Information Management program Minimum of two (2) years of coding experience in an acute care setting or diverse clinical specialties Certification through AHIMA or AAPC as a Registered Health Information Management Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Management Administrator (RHIA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or equivalent Advanced knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS coding, and abstracting Proficiency in coding software applications, including MS Office and Computer Assisted Coding (CAC) Preferred Qualifications
