The Role Career Start is a two-year rotational program for recent college graduates who are pursuing a construction management career. Participants join a national cohort and rotate through Estimating, Project Management, and Field Operations to master fundamentals with leadership exposure and professional development opportunities. A degree in construction management or a related field is not required. Those accepted into the program will begin work in July 2026. Responsibilities Estimating Responsibilities: In your estimating rotation you will work with the preconstruction team on many projects, creating detailed estimates forecasting each project's total cost. Assist with a Subcontractor database. Assist with assembling Bid Documents for pricing. Document Take-off, specification review and preliminary scope development. Quantity take-off using tools such as Digitizer and manual scales; organize the take-off using spreadsheets. Develop bid clarifications and RFIs (Request for Information). Participate in project Walk-Throughs as required. Review trade duration with subcontractors for input to the Project Schedule. Assist with the development and updating of the scope sheet for subcontractor pricing. Develop Trade Spreadsheet for Subcontractors' Bids and assist with subcontractor pricing. Assist in the development of the detailed estimate and participate in Architect/Owner Meetings. Assist with preparation of hard bids and draft Qualifications and Assumptions for the Contract. Establish Accepted Value Engineering and Alternate Pricing; confirm the Document List. Field Operations Responsibilities: In your field rotation you will support Superintendents in the daily operations of the jobsite, coordinating trade partners to deliver a quality product on budget and on time. Gain basic knowledge of document control and reading/processing shop drawings, comparing them to project documents. Verify shop drawings against field conditions and understand Exhibit B processes. Assist in maintaining project files and supporting quality control and punch list processes. Gain understanding of the construction process, including means and methods of various trades. Assist with site logistics and the Construction Management Plan; assist with establishing and maintaining vertical and horizontal project control. Assist with safety requirements and Baseline Schedule updates; assist the Superintendent with project documentation, including the Daily Report. Project Management Responsibilities: In your project management rotation, you will support Project Managers in overseeing and allocating project resources, coordinating trade partners, procuring materials and equipment, and managing the budget. Assist with creation of Change Orders and understand related processes and procedures. Assist with purchasing through procurement to Subcontract/PO execution. Assist with the back charge process and processing of vendor and subcontractor requisitions. Gain knowledge of reading and processing shop drawings and contract documents. Assist with owner requisitions, punch list processes, and developing O&M Manuals and as-built warranty information. Assist with submittal, procurement, and delivery processes; participate in project meetings. Qualifications Recent or soon-to-be college graduate with a bachelor's degree, equivalent military experience, or equivalent construction management experience.
