The Cloud Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and management of cloud and hybrid cloud infrastructure, with a focus on storage, backup, and data protection solutions. This role ensures high availability, security, and performance of enterprise data services across on-premises and cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities
Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, GCP) and hybrid solutions.
Integrate on-premises storage and backup solutions with cloud services.
Implement cloud-based backup, disaster recovery, and archiving solutions.
Monitor and optimize cloud storage and compute resources for performance and cost efficiency.
Storage & Backup Management
Maintain enterprise storage systems (SAN, NAS, object storage) and backup platforms (Veeam, Commvault, Rubrik, NetBackup).
Develop and enforce data retention, replication, and recovery policies.
Conduct disaster recovery testing and validation.
Operations & Automation
Troubleshoot complex issues across cloud and on-premises infrastructure.
Automate tasks and deployments using scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash) and IaC tools (Terraform, ARM, CloudFormation).
Maintain documentation, runbooks, and architecture diagrams.
Security & Compliance
Ensure cloud and on-premises data protection meets regulatory and organizational standards (ISO, GDPR, SOC).
Implement encryption, immutability, and ransomware protection strategies.
Collaborate with security teams to enforce policies and best practices.
Key Skills & Experience
Hands-on experience with public cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
Strong knowledge of enterprise storage and backup solutions.
Experience with hybrid cloud architectures and cloud-native storage services.
Understanding of networking concepts (VPC, subnets, NFS, SMB, iSCSI, Fibre Channel).
Experience in scripting and automation for cloud and infrastructure management.
Expertise in disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
Experience with containerized environments (Kubernetes, CSI drivers).
Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM, CloudFormation).
