Drives Lifeworks van to transport individuals to and from home/worksites. Protects and enhances the rights of individuals in program. Complies with all principles of Human Rights, D.P.P.C. and Department of Developmental Services and the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission regulations as adhered to by Lifeworks. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Drives Lifeworks van to transport individuals from homes to worksites. Operates vehicle in a safe and legal manner, adhering to all laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and Lifeworks Policies and Procedures. Maintains vehicle with respect to safety and cleanliness. Reports all vehicle and maintenance needs to supervisor or designee as soon as possible. Supervises and ensures the safety of all individuals transported on their assigned vehicles. Reports concerns or issues regarding the individuals on vehicle to supervisor or designee as soon as possible. Ensures that all passengers utilize seat belts while being transported. Secures passengers convertible wheelchairs to safety restraints to stabilize wheelchairs during trips. Submits all necessary written documentation required in a timely and complete manner, including: weekly time sheet, monthly vehicle maintenance report, monthly attendance report, and significant incident/accident reports as necessary. Assists passengers into and out of vehicle as necessary. Maintains effective communication with other staff, families, and residential staff of individuals being transported. Attends transportation meetings and in-service trainings. Adheres to Lifeworks guidelines regarding time off and overtime approvals from supervisor or designee. Other duties and/or assignments based on the needs of the company. Qualifications
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or GED; and one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination. Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small group settings. Mathematical Skills:
Ability to perform basic arithmetic using dollars and common measurements. Reasoning Ability:
Ability to follow instructions and solve problems in standardized situations. Vehicle and Travel:
Requires a legally insured and inspected automobile for use during working hours; may be required to drive program vehicles. Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:
Valid and current driver’s license; CPR and First Aid Certification. Physical Demands:
Regularly use hands to handle, talk, or hear; may lift up to 100 pounds; various physical activities as part of the job. Work Environment:
Regular exposure to outside weather; may encounter moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and moderate noise levels. Accommodations available as needed. Disclaimer:
