Overview

Environmental Health & Safety Specialist role at Baker Hughes. Support the Twinsburg Facility, including implementation of Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) programs, risk mitigation projects, OSHA VPP efforts. This role requires interacting with all levels of the organization and time on the manufacturing floor. Responsibilities

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable HSE regulations and standards for site operations and ensure permits, documentation, and site-specific HSE programs meet regulatory requirements. Develop, deploy and manage site-specific HSE programs that comply with company standards and regulatory requirements. Train site employees to ensure effective implementation and compliance with procedures. Lead initiatives. Develop and own the HSE Risk Management Strategy, including the Site Risk Register, identifying critical HSE risks and regulatory obligations for all operations and new activities. Collaborate with site operations leaders to ensure safe handling, storage and disposal of chemicals, maintain accurate chemical and hazardous material inventory, safety data sheets (SDS), Industrial Hygiene Plans, and HAZCOM (Right-To-Know). Provide ongoing support for qualitative risk assessments, day-to-day activities, and management of change (MOC) processes; ensure risk control actions are implemented. Liaise with third-party specialists to ensure site-specific programs that require regulatory compliance, such as Air, Water and Waste Management, including Industrial Hygiene and Environmental expertise for Air, Water and Waste (SWPP & SPCC Plans). Develop and maintain an Emergency Response Plan (ERP) and Emergency Action Plans; conduct quarterly drills and exercises to test ERP effectiveness. Collaborate with site leadership to promote a strong HSE culture, lead monthly HSE meetings, drive HSE observations and concerns reporting, participate in incidents/near-miss investigations and steward corrective actions to closure; lead the VPP culture at RS. Drive site HSE performance metrics and perform trend analyses to identify improvement opportunities. Serve as a primary point of contact for HSE matters, interface with regulatory agencies and provide compliance reporting as required by local, state and federal regulations. Qualifications

Have a bachelor’s degree in occupational health, Safety & Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Chemistry, Engineering, or related field. Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Safety, Manufacturing/Laboratory, technology, or similar industries handling or processing chemicals and hazardous materials. Experience managing site Chemical Hygiene, Industrial Hygiene programs and Right-To-Know for employees/operations with chemicals and hazardous materials. Proven ability to develop and implement HSE programs that comply with company standards and regulatory requirements. Ability to prioritize and follow through with multiple tasks and projects; strong cross-functional collaboration to strengthen a positive HSE culture. Professional certifications such as CSP or CIH are preferred. Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and training skills. Experience with local regulatory agencies such as EPA and OSHA. Interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to influence others and lead small teams. Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously; effective problem identification and solutions.
