The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager is a technical expert and strategic leader responsible for designing, implementing, and continuously evolving a comprehensive EHS management system tailored to a high-risk, highly regulated industrial manufacturing environment.
This role demands deep technical expertise in environmental compliance, occupational safety engineering, industrial hygiene, and risk management, along with a firm grasp of sustainability practices and global product stewardship requirements.
Responsibilities:
Lead complex environmental compliance initiatives involving federal, state, and local regulations. Oversee site-specific environmental programs related to stormwater runoff, hazardous materials storage, and waste handling, ensuring full compliance with TCEQ and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements. Develop and maintain procedures to ensure accurate and timely TRI submissions, including detailed chemical usage tracking, discharge quantification, and internal validation. Serve as the primary liaison for environmental agencies during audits and inspections, ensuring zero non-conformances and sustained regulatory compliance. Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and training programs to create a safe working environment. Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards. Investigate accidents, near misses, and other safety incidents, and develop strategies to prevent recurrence. Design and implement a risk-based EHS management system (EHSMS) compliant with ANSI Z10, ISO 45001, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) best practices. Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific/technical field required; Master’s degree strongly preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in EHS management within a complex manufacturing or industrial environment. Comprehensive understanding of substance restriction and product compliance programs (e.g., REACH, RoHS, PFAS, TSCA). OSHA 30-hour and 10-hour certifications required. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent strongly preferred; certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), or ISO 45001/14001 Lead Auditor certification highly desirable.
