(includes but is not limited to the following, other duties may be assigned) The Senior Accountant role will be a key team member working with multiple accounting teams. This role will be responsible for accounting and reporting for certain power plant operations including plant maintenance and operating accruals and parts inventory accounting. In addition, this role will also be responsible for certain Corporate Reporting responsibilities including assistance with the preparation and rolling forward of financial statement footnote disclosures in statutory debt required financial statements and corporate consolidated financial statements. Job Responsibilities Responsibilities include applying principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare entries for general ledger accounts and documenting business transactions for assigned areas. The role requires analysis of financial information relating to assets, liabilities and capital balances and will include preparing balance sheets and profit & loss statements and perform monthly and quarterly analysis. Required to work collaboratively within department and with cross functional teams as part of day to day activities. Solid, working accounting knowledge of US GAAP in relation to corporate and plant operation areas Creates accounting records and journal entries including general accounting and costing entries Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries for general ledger accounts and document business transactions Performs specified tasks related to G/L and monthly close, reporting and reconciliations Perform internal controls testing of key controls within the company Applies advanced skills contributing to knowledge areas within function Experienced professional with understanding of job, company and industry practices Able to make decisions regarding own work including in ambiguous situations and makes recommendations regarding own function/discipline Solves operational problems and associated technical issues Makes recommendations on moderately complex issues regarding project tasks Makes recommendations and acts upon recommendations to improve processes, tools and services Assist in preparation of new disclosure requirements Works on problems of diverse scope with moderate complexity Uses independent judgment with defined policies and practices. Interprets guideline, select methods and performs analytics to provide solutions Little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments. May be designated project or technical lead for ongoing process or short term project within own department Information sharing – gives and receives information such as options, technical direction, instruction and reporting results Required to work collaboratively within department and with cross functional teams as part of day to day activities Interact with various groups within and external to accounting, including commercial and plant operations and legal Job Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Accounting. Requires 2-5 years’ experience in related field, CPA preferred. Knowledge of PeopleSoft accounting software preferred. Proficiency in MS Office, Excel and Word required.
