For over 125 years, Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens has provided quality social services to Brooklyn and Queens, offering 160+ programs and services for children, youth, adults, seniors, and those struggling with mental illness. Our Family Child Care Homes provide free Early Head Start and Head Start services to young children and their families. Head Start serves children ages 3 to 5. Families are respected as partners in the early care and education process. The Family Child Care Providers’ homes are nurturing learning environments that promote cognitive, social, emotional and physical development, with providers who guide children’s learning through developmentally appropriate Montessori activities. Responsibilities

The Head Start (HS) Family Worker is responsible for the program’s parent involvement and supports recruitment, interviewing, and registration efforts in accordance with Agency policies and Head Start Regulations to determine eligibility of qualified individuals. Conducts intakes and Family Partnership Agreements; shows parents around the center. Collects social and developmental information on the child and shares this information with teachers and staff in a manner consistent with family confidentiality. Inputs information into the data master, completes documentation, and prepares required reports documenting compliance with guidelines on intakes, eligibility, priorities, classroom attendance, and records; responsible for In-Kind Reports. Receives and verifies financial and other information needed to determine eligibility as required. Maintains contact with families to provide information, referrals, and access to other services such as employment, mental health, counseling, housing, etc., as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications

High School Diploma required. Two years of experience in Human Services required. College degree or Family Development Credential preferred. Bilingual abilities preferred: Spanish/English; Russian/English; Chinese/English; Korean/English; English/Creole. Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Able to travel to multiple locations within the five boroughs as needed. Benefits
