Overview
Senior Business Analyst – SAFe® Agile role focused on enabling IT delivery through facilitation of Agile practices, data-driven analysis, and Lean Portfolio Management (LPM). Responsible for translating complex business requirements into actionable features and user stories, facilitating Agile Release Trains (ARTs), and ensuring alignment across cross-functional teams within the SAFe® framework. The Sr. BA supports Program Increment (PI) planning, cross-team coordination, and alignment between business requirements and technical implementation. Leverages Agile and LPM metrics to monitor performance, assess delivery risks, and support informed decision-making to deliver measurable business value aligned to portfolio priorities. This role is hybrid and based in Madison, WI with office presence required 3 days a week. Responsibilities
Facilitate Agile ceremonies and PI Planning to bring business context to life and help teams plan with confidence. Translate business requirements into epics, features, and user stories with clear acceptance criteria. Manage feature prioritization and dependencies across Agile Release Trains to align with business priorities. Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, Developers, QA, and other stakeholders to ensure feasible, valuable solutions. Refine the portfolio backlog and support coordination across value streams to accelerate execution. Maintain healthy backlogs with prioritized, refined items ready for development. Document current and future states, identify gaps, and pursue opportunities for improvement and automation. Track progress, manage scope changes, and communicate delivery impacts; support change management and adoption. Monitor metrics (velocity, cycle time, predictability) and build dashboards to turn data into decisions. Lead demos, walkthroughs, and post-implementation reviews to validate outcomes and gather feedback. Mentor other analysts in SAFe® principles, backlog practices, and delivery techniques. Be adaptable and willing to evolve responsibilities to add value. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience. 5+ years as a Business Analyst or Product Analyst. 2+ years supporting SAFe® or scaled Agile delivery. Strong ability to elicit, analyze, and document complex business requirements; translate into epics, features, and user stories with clear acceptance criteria. Experience collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders and communicating value, risks, and insights to technical and executive audiences. Strong understanding of SAFe® principles, PI planning, and ART operations. Proficient with Agile tools (Azure DevOps, Jira) for backlog management and progress tracking. Understanding Lean Portfolio Management, business process improvement, and alignment to goals, OKRs, KPIs, and value streams. Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to influence at all levels. Preferred Qualifications
7+ years as a Business Analyst or Product Analyst. 5+ years supporting SAFe® or scaled Agile delivery. Agile/Scrum and/or SAFe® certifications (CSM, CSPO, SAFe® Agilist, SAFe® POPM). SAFe® Lean Portfolio Management (LPM) certification; additional certifications such as AgileBA®, ICAgile, ICP-BAF; training in Agile metrics and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Jira dashboards).
