Overview The University of Texas at Austin seeks a Senior Director of Annual Giving Programs to lead and mentor a robust Annual Giving Programs team. The role is responsible for strategizing, implementing, and managing multi- and omni-channel annual giving programs to increase donor acquisition, retention, engagement, participation, and revenue. The successful candidate will strengthen the annual giving program, increase donor numbers and giving levels, and leverage emerging AI and digital technology to advance efficiency and impact at scale. The position emphasizes cultivating new donors and retaining existing ones by identifying, qualifying, and moving them through the fundraising pipeline in partnership with internal teams, reporting, AI, and predictive analytics.
Responsibilities
Execute a comprehensive Annual Giving Program including direct mail, email, texting, social media, crowdfunding, video, and other channels.
Collaborate with the University Development team to support pipeline building and identify major gift prospects for referral and cultivation across campus.
Manage a reporting system providing regular analysis of annual giving effectiveness (weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual).
Ensure timely, personalized donor acknowledgment and annual giving stewardship processes.
Analyze data to develop insights and funding strategies; use data for segmentation of campaigns and engagement across audiences.
Monitor a comprehensive set of metrics to achieve goals, including total giving, alumni participation, donor retention, and fundraising by appeal, segment, and channel.
Update dashboards to track performance and drive engagement and solicitation strategy.
Develop partnerships across campus to identify and support annual giving opportunities.
Coordinate with Marketing and Communication to develop a campaign and solicitation calendar aligned with the overall communication strategy.
Advance and grow the donor pipeline; design strategies to maximize donor retention and move entry-level donors to leadership levels.
Utilize and manage an annual giving budget to accomplish strategic initiatives.
Support new strategies to grow the President's Associates giving program.
Translate fundraising goals and donor insights into creative briefs and provide feedback on concepts.
Foster collaboration with production and design teams by setting timelines and aligning strategy with capacity.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree. Deep knowledge of all direct marketing channels.
Ability to make strategic recommendations and adjustments based on data analytics and results.
Strong people management skills.
High level of integrity and servant leadership.
Driven by mission and impact.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Three to five years of experience leading Annual Giving teams at a major university in a complex environment.
Strategic, analytical, data-driven problem solver driving annual giving to KPIs.
Evidence of lifelong learning via industry certifications or degrees (MBA or Master’s in marketing).
Salary $130,000+ depending on qualifications
Working Conditions
Standard office environment with possible evening and weekend hours during peak periods and special events.
