Primary Purpose This position leads and supports capacity planning efforts to ensure the reliability, resilience, and efficiency of ComEd’s electric distribution system. The role develops and applies advanced planning methodologies, load forecasting, and system modeling to anticipate future grid needs driven by electrification, distributed energy resources (DER), climate impacts, and policies such as the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA). The role collaborates across engineering, operations, and regulatory teams to identify and justify infrastructure investments, optimize system performance, and support decarbonization. This position may require extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies. Primary Duties Responsibilities include capacity planning studies of the ComEd distribution system using CYME power flow analysis software, preparing load forecasts, and analyzing modification and modernization impacts to the distribution grid. Design electrical drawings in AutoCAD and prepare scope and cost estimates for projects including general load growth, reliability, DER interconnection, voltage optimization, distribution automation, electrification, data center, and substation projects. Lead or participate in projects with significant financial and operational impact; develop and deliver project deliverables; support distribution operations for planned or emergency switching; participate in or lead cross-departmental meetings and oversee contractors as needed; serve as an expert for a designated planning area; support regulatory filings and may serve as an expert witness; recommend strategies to improve system performance and cost-effectiveness; provide mentorship and technical training to capacity planning staff and engineers; engage with technical and industry organizations to stay informed on emerging technologies and challenges in the utility sector. Job Scope Influences project decisions with moderate impact on the company, including leading employees or contractors in commissioning electrical systems and equipment. Applies technical knowledge to promote a safe work environment and enhance customer satisfaction. Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical and mechanical systems Strong problem solving and engineering theory knowledge Knowledge of engineering designs, principles, practices, and complex field test equipment 4–7 years of professional engineering experience Broad knowledge of regulations, standards, codes, methods, and advanced engineering principles for complex or unique assignments At least two related career experiences or Engineer in Training, or progress toward an advanced technical degree/certifications Relevant licenses or degrees may reduce required on-the-job training per policy Preferred Qualifications

Graduate degree or graduate work in Engineering, Business Administration, or Project Management Certification Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) Strong teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills across management levels Excellent written and oral communication skills Benefits
