The Senior Drainage Engineer will specialise in Water, Drainage and Environmental Engineering for transportation infrastructure projects. The role involves delivering drainage designs from concept through to detail for UK and international projects, with a focus on high-profile rail, highway, Local Authority and aviation schemes as part of WSP’s national sustainable water management team. Responsibilities
Delivery of a wide variety of civil engineering projects, such as highway, rail, infrastructure and site development schemes. Deliver projects from concept through to completion, ensuring high technical standards, timeliness, and commercial success. Deliver a broad range of drainage services for significant transport and infrastructure projects. More senior levels will include leadership responsibilities such as: Lead client relationships and participate in client progress meetings. Manage a team of drainage engineers, supporting their technical development and ensuring resource on projects. What we look for
Chartered or Incorporated Engineer and/or degree qualified (role dependent). Extensive post‑degree experience in designing sustainable drainage solutions. Knowledge of drainage design principles and solutions to manage infrastructure drainage. Experience with Civil 3D and/or Causeway Flow software/MicroDrainage. Knowledge of relevant technical standards, UK Building Regulations, Design Standards, Codes of Practice and Health & Safety regulations. Experience in managing projects/programmes and teams to meet quality and commercial targets. Technical experience in one or more areas: Highway Drainage, Rail Drainage, Airport Drainage, Asset Management, Foul water, Sustainable foul and surface water drainage design, Drainage modelling software (Causeway Flow or Microdrainage).
