Ports and Marine Civil/Structural Engineer
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full-time Ports and Marine Engineer for the following offices: Irvine, San Diego, San Francisco-CA, Miami-FL, Portland-OR, Seattle-WA, Houston-TX. This person will be involved in projects with our Ports and Maritime Team and be part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. Our Maritime group comprises highly motivated analysts, planners, and maritime civil and structural engineers working in several key locations across the US and internationally. Major clients are port authorities, U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, terminal operators, contractors and private entities. Our strength is derived from the diversity of marine-related work and our staff. Perform civil/structural design for marine and upland components under supervision of senior ports and marine engineers Prepare technical written communications in the form of memoranda and reports Support managers in the creation of plans, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates in accordance with client requirements Work in a team to ensure that work product meets scope, schedule, cost and quality requirements Perform design calculations in support of broader engineering activities Work with cross-functional teams in executing project work Assist with work plan preparation and coordination of site work and code compliance Complete training on assigned tasks Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering 3-5 years of relevant post-education experience Familiarity with marine, port, and civil/structural engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to project work-related issues Familiar with relevant marine, port, and coastal construction codes, regulations, and compliance practices Analytical mindset with an ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions Strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives Basic proficiency with technical writing, relevant engineering software, spreadsheets, and other tools Experience with discipline-specific design software (i.e., AutoCAD, Revit) Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements Preferred Qualifications
Engineer in Training Certification Prior design experience Active participation in local professional practice organizations Previous experience in design of marine upland facilities Field investigation and/or construction support experience Hands-on design experience Additional positions available for individuals holding a commercial dive license (ADCI or DCBC) in addition to the qualifications above WSP Benefits

Expected Salary (all locations): $77,000-125,000 WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
