Attending Physician, ER, Per Diem, Flexible Shifts, Jackson South M.C. – Jackson Health System Summary: The role of Attending Physician is to provide the medical management of the various patient care programs as assigned. Maintains effective lines of communication with the medical staff, nursing, social work and management, and coordinates development, implementation and evaluation of standards of patient care. Miami, FL | On Call/Pool ER Physicians • Per Diem, Flexible Shifts Responsibilities
Performs medical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses, and treatment to System patients. Provides direct patient care on a daily basis and provides all necessary medical record documentation including Medicare/Medicaid and third party payers requirements. Performs CPT and ICD10 coding for each patient encounter. Works as scheduled and may rotate through System. Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions. Refs patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components as appropriate. Directs and coordinates the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required. Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards. Attends Medical Staff meetings and participates with/on JMH committees/sub-committees. Participates in utilization review, quality assessment and improvement programs to improve patient care. Provides medical consultative services to other medical personnel, specifically related to overall patient management. Maintains current standards of acceptable medical practice and participates in educational programs specific to patient care. Involves patients (and family, when necessary) in the decision making process about treatment. Meets productivity standards and attends meetings and conferences as directed. Participates in mandatory educational programs, in-service/training courses to maintain job competency skills. Maintains effective communication and working relationships with JHS medical personnel in the community. Collaborates with Radiology, Pathology, Surgery, Medical Oncology, and Nursing in the clinical management of patients. Performs all credentialed medical procedures according to standards, including time-out protocols. Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of the continuous Quality Improvement Plan to identify improvement opportunities. Adheres to the Standards of Excellence, respects privacy and property, and complies with applicable laws and regulations including HIPAA and clinical trials protocol. Participates in call schedule and reports for duty within 30 minutes response time for surgical and/or OB cases. Completes unusual occurrence reports as required and demonstrates knowledge of aseptic technique. Maintains current knowledge on procedures, instruments, equipment and integrates knowledge and skills into practice. Generally requires 3 to 5 years of related experience. Education

Valid Florida Medical License. For incumbents working in Corrections Health Services, active DEA and board certification is preferred. For incumbents working in other facilities, active DEA and board certification is required. Other specialty certifications related to specialty are a plus. American Heart Association BLS and any additional applicable life support certification for Healthcare Providers is required upon hire with at least 6 months validity and maintenance for duration of employment.
