Senior Network Engineer
to join our team in
Norfolk, VA . This is an
on-site
position.
Responsibilities
Provide network support to Navy operational and training networks focused specifically on the Navy Enterprise Tactical Training Network (NETTN).
Ensure uninterrupted network connectivity to customers and sites by planning and executing the installation of new capabilities, as well as operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting network connectivity and infrastructure on enterprise managed networks including support of multiple network enclaves across classification levels.
Identify and analyze systems requirements, develop and maintain system applications and security, develop and maintain network configurations, and develop and maintain a disaster recovery plan.
Serve as the primary technical authority and SME for all aspects of microwave data link design, implementation, operation, and maintenance.
Lead the planning, design, and engineering of complex microwave radio networks, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and scalability.
Conduct detailed link budget analysis, path profiling, frequency planning, interference analysis, and capacity planning for new and existing microwave links.
Travel up to 25% or as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma and a minimum of 3+ years of relevant network engineering experience.
Must hold one of the following IAT Level II Certifications: CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, or SSCP, and one Network Certification (e.g., CompTIA Network+, CCNA); or the ability to obtain both certifications within 30 days of offer acceptance.
Experience with network standards, protocols, security, and/or applications; capabilities and applications of network equipment (e.g., hubs, routers, switches, bridges, firewalls, servers, transmission media, and related hardware).
Preferred Qualifications
7+ years of relevant work experience as a network engineer within a U.S. Government environment; DoD strongly preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or other related field.
Experience in a Network Operations Center (NOC) or Network Operations Security Center (NOSC) environment including help desk, customer communication, trouble ticketing, and issue resolution.
Familiarity with cloud-based network management platforms for microwave systems.
Clearance Requirements Active Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain an active Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
The person in this position may occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
