Overview

Data Center Technical Operations Engineer role within AWS Infrastructure Services. This team designs, plans, delivers, and operates AWS global infrastructure, sustaining the data center facilities and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure continual access to AWS services. You will join a diverse team of software, hardware, network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles, collaborating across AWS to maintain safety, security, capacity, and cost efficiency, while fostering an inclusive culture that empowers ownership of ideas to completion. The Infrastructure Operations (Data Center) team supports AWS business and customers 24/7, maintaining physical infrastructure to meet standards for safety, security, availability, productivity, capacity, efficiency, and cost. We are looking for a Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) Engineer with experience in critical facilities management, strong technical (electrical/mechanical) understanding, and the drive to enhance data center engineering operations. The role reports to the DCEO Manager and is responsible for sustaining availability, cost management, risk assessment and mitigation, and the review of corrective and preventative maintenance of critical infrastructure, along with metric reporting. Responsibilities

Undertake and support management of both routine maintenance and emergency service of critical systems such as switch-gear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, building monitoring systems, fire systems, etc. Install new rack capacity and provision power/cooling. On-site management of contractors and vendors, ensuring all work complies with established practices, procedures, and local legislation. Establish performance benchmarks, conduct analyses, and prepare reports and documentation of critical facility infrastructure operations and maintenance; manage the facility’s assets. Generate change management requests and incident management tickets for facility-related events and assist in resolving infrastructure engineering and services issues. Collaborate with data center IT managers and business leaders to coordinate day-to-day operations, projects, manage capacity, and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability, sustainability, and efficiency. Drive and implement projects to increase facility capacity, efficiency, sustainability, and reliability; assist in design implementation, commissioning, and build-out of new data center facilities. Assist in troubleshooting facility and rack-level events within internal SLAs. Perform rack installs, decommissioning, and facility management. Provide operational readings and KPIs to ensure uptime. On-site management of contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure compliance with practices and local regulations. Oversee maintenance and operations of electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment in the data center. Qualifications
