Key job responsibilities

Location: Sydney, NSW

Full-time, permanent role

Participate in a 24/7 rotating shift pattern (12‑hour shifts)

Support routine maintenance and emergency service of critical systems such as switch‑gear, generators, UPS, power distribution, chillers, cooling towers, air handlers, building monitoring, and fire systems

Install new rack capacity and provision power/cooling

Manage contractors and vendors, ensuring work complies with procedures and local legislation

Establish performance benchmarks, conduct analyses, and prepare reports and documentation for critical infrastructure operations and maintenance

Generate change management requests and incident tickets for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing events, and assist in resolving infrastructure engineering issues

Collaborate with data center IT managers and other leaders to coordinate day‑to‑day operations, projects, capacity management, and plant optimization for safety, performance, reliability, sustainability, and efficiency

Drive and implement projects to increase facility capacity, efficiency, sustainability, and reliability, and assist in design, commissioning, and build‑out of new facilities

A day in the life

Work schedule changes depending on site needs; shifts are 12‑hours and rotate on a predefined schedule

Assist in troubleshooting facility and rack‑level events within SLAs

Perform rack installs, decommissioning, and facility management

Provide operational readings and KPIs to maintain uptime

On‑site manage contractors, subcontractors, and vendors, ensuring compliance with practices, procedures, and legislation

Oversee maintenance and operations of all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment

Basic Qualifications

Experience in operations and on‑call support for data center facilities, mission‑critical plants, or production facilities

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field

Experience in electrical or mechanical engineering

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a data center or other critical environment

Experience in vendor management

Experience developing MOPs and SWMS for planned works
