Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Responsibilities
HR Processing:
Serve as liaison between SWFREC (Southwest Florida Research and Education Center) and IFAS HR. Provide guidance and assistance regarding HR policies and procedures. Work with IFAS HR on modifying and interpreting HR policies and creating best practices. Implement policies for faculty and staff ensuring compliance with federal, state and university regulations. Monitor the effectiveness of human resources policies and recommends revisions or modifications. Provide guidance and training to administrative staff on HR policies and procedures to ensure university guidelines are followed. Collaborate with staff and faculty members to ensure timely ePAFs are processed. Manage files and processing documents. Process hires, additional pays, job edits, update positions, create new positions, terminations, and leave ePAFs. Process leave cash outs. Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic and physical files, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Utilize OnBase to manage and track documents, ensuring efficient and secure storage. Payroll and Timekeeping:
Monitor and assist with timely reporting and approval of the online payroll system. Review time and labor records for accuracy and regulatory compliance, and provide guidance to department liaisons. Ensure time approvals for faculty or time approvers to guarantee timely payment. Verify time entry and biweekly pay lists for the department and maintain accuracy of time worked and leave reported. Monitor leave input in timesheets; liaise with UF Tax and Payroll Services. Stay current with Department of Labor laws and state requirements to prevent violations. Project Support and Supply Coordination:
Provide support for special projects, data entry, process updates, and document preparation. Enter data accurately into various systems in compliance with regulatory requirements. General:
Assist with other duties as assigned. Human Resources Generalist II – Additional Responsibilities
Serve as the center’s HR Liaison, collaborating with IFAS HR and campus offices to implement HR best practices. Recruitment and staffing duties including job postings, documentation for new hires, terminations, leave of absences, position updates, and pre-employment health assessments; data entry of personnel actions and payroll distributions; manage onboarding/offboarding and student/visitor housing coordination. Maintain confidential personnel records; facilitate pre-employment health assessments and required exams; monitor visa status and coordinate with campus offices as needed. Assist Center Director with scheduling, annual reviews, and faculty appointments; ensure timely delivery of evaluation materials to IFAS HR and Employee Relations; assist with PIPs and disciplinary documents; support Tenure and Promotion processes and Faculty Assignment Reports. Monitor time-entry and deadlines; approve time in the absence of a supervisor; ensure timely reporting of work and leave hours; manage payroll distributions; liaise with UF Tax and Payroll Services. Act as liaison between faculty, staff, and HR offices (Benefits, Employee Relations, Workers’ Compensation, Immigration and Compliance, and Exchange Visitor Services). Manage international hires and visa documentation; advise on visa renewals or changes. Develop center-specific policies compliant with university regulations and federal laws; provide interpretation of policies and keep up-to-date with labor laws; advise leadership on time reporting issues with supporting documentation as needed. Advise new faculty/staff on required trainings and system roles for HR platforms; provide back-up for Department Security Administrator responsibilities; train staff on HR software modules as needed. Expected Salary: HR Generalist I:
$25-$27 per hour; Non-Exempt. Commensurate with education and experience. HR Generalist II:
$55,000-$60,000; Exempt. Commensurate with education and experience. Required Qualifications: Human Resources Generalist I requirements:
