Human Resources Generalist I / II
Classification Minimum Requirements:
Human Resources Generalist I: A bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Human Resources Generalist II: Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Human Resources Generalist I The Human Resources Generalist I provides professional support to SWFREC staff and faculty, serving as a partner and communicating effectively with UF faculty, staff, and administrators. This position requires strong organizational and communication skills, the ability to prioritize tasks effectively, and maintain confidentiality. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, providing excellent customer service while maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
HR Processing Serve as liaison between SWFREC and IFAS HR; provide guidance on HR policies and procedures; work with IFAS HR on policy modification and best‑practice development; implement policies for faculty and staff ensuring compliance with federal, state, and university regulations; monitor policy effectiveness and recommend revisions; train administrative staff on HR policies; collaborate with staff and faculty to ensure timely ePAF processing; manage files and processing documents; handle hires, pay, job edits, positions, terminations, and leave ePAFs; process leave cash outs; maintain accurate electronic and physical files; utilise OnBase for document management.
Payroll and Timekeeping Monitor timely payroll reporting and approval; review time and labor records for accuracy and compliance; troubleshoot errors and ensure approvals; check time entry and biweekly payroll lists; liaise with UF Tax and Payroll Services; stay current with labor laws and prevent violations.
Project Support and Supply Coordination Provide support for special projects such as tool creation, process updates, data entry, and document preparation; accurately enter data into systems.
Assists with other duties as assigned.
Human Resources Generalist II Serve as the center’s HR liaison, collaborating with IFAS HR and other campus offices to implement HR best practices.
Recruitment and Staffing Responsible for recruitment and staffing, including job postings, documentation for new hires, terminations, leave of absences, position updates, pre‑employment health assessments, payroll distributions, on-/off‑boarding, and student/visitor dormitory assignments. Maintain confidential personnel records, facilitate pre‑employment health assessments and RISC screenings, monitor Student Health and Safety reports, assist with faculty Tenure and Promotion documents.
Administrative Support Assist with scheduling, annual reviews, faculty appointments, and documentation for UF Employee Relations; aid in drafting PIPs or disciplinary documents; manage time‑entry notifications and approvals; review biweekly paylists; act as liaison for faculty and staff with HR offices; manage visa status and renewal for international hires; develop center‑specific policies; interpret university policies; provide departmental training and assistance with Peoplesoft modules.
Assists with other duties as assigned.
Expected Salary
HR Generalist I: $25–$27 per hour; Non‑Exempt.
HR Generalist II: $55–$60K per year; Exempt.
Preferred Qualifications Human Resources Generalist I
Working knowledge of PeopleSoft.
Understanding of PC programs for online payroll, distributions, hiring systems, and electronic mail.
Ability to perform, organize, and conduct work independently.
Knowledge of payroll procedures and record‑keeping techniques.
Effective telephone and personnel inquiry handling.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Human Resources Generalist II
Knowledge of office procedures and practices.
Ability to compile and analyze data for administrative decisions.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Computer and keyboarding skills; experience with Microsoft Office.
Ability to transcribe dictation.
Ability to organize files and maintain orderly records.
