Position Summary

The University of New Mexico’s Institutional Support Services (ISS) is looking for a Human Resources Analyst who thrives in a dynamic, collaborative, and high-impact environment. In this role, you’ll be a trusted partner supporting 17 diverse, service-oriented departments that help the university operate seamlessly and deliver exceptional experiences every day.

This position will report directly to the ISS HR Manager and will be part of a tight-knit, collaborative team that provides HR support across all 17 departments within ISS.   • Conducting research and analysis on HR issues and contributing to creative problem-solving.
  • Providing guidance and consultation to client departments on policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Participating in investigations, job audits, and negotiations, and following up on outcomes.
  • Developing and delivering training and presentations on HR processes and systems.
  • Preparing reports and data analyses that identify insights and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Supporting the development of HR procedures and documentation to ensure operational excellence.
  • Entering and reviewing data in HR systems to maintain accuracy and compliance.

Operating at the divisional or departmental level, the role provides a specified range of specialized professional and operational support to employees and/or the general public in areas such as employment, compensation, labor relations, benefits, training and development, HRIS, or human resources administration. It provides interpretation and routine consultation, and ensures compliance with UNM HR policies, procedures, guidelines and applicable federal and state laws. It participates in research and analysis of operational issues and provides or participates in problem resolution. It provides day-to-day guidance to internal clients and lower-level staff on HR procedures and best practices within a specified area of expertise. It reviews routine documentation to ensure data integrity and quality of production and may supervise, lead, train, and/or coordinate activities of lower-level technical and/or administrative staff as appropriate.

Conditions of Employment

  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research abilities complemented by excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience managing sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Ability to balance independent responsibilities with active participation in a cooperative, high-performing team environment.
  • Proven success building positive working relationships and collaborating with individuals from diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and roles.
  • Skilled in leveraging HR technologies and information systems to streamline operations and enhance data accuracy.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other data management or analysis tools.
