Overview
We are seeking a
Catering Operations Manager
who will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the catering team in a structured and daily routine to ensure the highest standards are met. The Catering Operations Manager will oversee all catering operations and develop and maintain working practices in line with current food hygiene regulations, ensuring staff are fully conversant in this area. Focus on guest experience and quality execution is vitally important. This role will assist in the development and growth of the catering operations team and help develop and drive the vision for catering operations on campus. The Catering Operations Manager will need to manage relationships and partnerships throughout the campus community, and be well organized and able to multitask. The role reports to the Catering Director. Work in collaboration with the Catering Director and Marketing to promote and execute innovative presentations, develop the Catering Standards, and develop a rebranding strategy for catering operations on campus.
Responsibilities
Oversees and manages daily catering operations on campus.
Supports all operational and financial management and partners with the Catering Operations Team in overseeing the flawless execution of events.
Builds and maintains strong relationships with students, campus constituents, and team members.
Interprets client ideas into executable events by listening to clients.
Communicates service issues to the Catering Leadership for resolution.
Supports team members with the tools necessary to complete their jobs.
Ensures show quality standards are maintained; supports and communicates University initiatives.
Develops operations systems for product handling, storage, policies and procedures, inventory management, and event transportation.
Collaborates with the Catering Director and Marketing on catering marketing initiatives and event promotion.
Troubleshoots issues and manages service recovery as needed.
Solicits new and repeat clients in collaboration with the Catering Director.
Fosters a positive work environment to boost morale, productivity, and communication between managers, clients, and university constituents.
Responsible for overall setup, flow, and operations related to event food and beverage.
Finance
Supports the financial outcomes and profit goals as set by the Catering Director and/or Executive Chef.
Controls
Ensures security, safety, and sanitation standards are achieved.
Maintains good safety and sanitation practices.
Assists in controlling catering inventories, product cost, and purchasing; participates in regular inventory auditing.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate's Degree or Culinary Degree equivalent.
Three years of Food Service Management experience, with at least one year in a supervisory role.
ServSafe and AllerTrain certifications are required and must be obtained within three months of employment if not currently held.
Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education per the institution's equivalency guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree (preferred).
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment; shows initiative, responsibility, flexibility, and leadership.
Effective communication with management, students, and team members.
Ability to taste and evaluate food and beverage products; attention to detail.
Physical ability to walk, stand, push, pull, and lift as required (approximately 90% of the time; items up to 40 pounds or heavier).
Self-sufficient and able to multitask with moderate supervision.
