Overview

The Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) seeks a District Attorney (DA) Liaison to be physically located in Staten Island at the 350 St. Mark's Place site. This full-time position is within the Investigations Division (INV) and supports the Instant Response Team (IRT) collaboration with the NYC Police Department (NYPD) and the District Attorney’s Office. The selected candidate will be offered a salary of $78,315.00 (range up to $106,624.00). This position is only open to ACS applicants who are permanent (not provisional) in the civil service title of Child Protective Specialist Supervisor (CPSS). ACS protects and promotes the safety and well-being of children and families through child welfare and juvenile justice services and community supports, including foster care, subsidized childcare vouchers, and response to allegations of child maltreatment. The IRT’s mission is to improve coordination between ACS and law enforcement to enhance protection of NYC children. Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between ACS, the NYPD, and the DA Office. Provide requested case-specific information to the DA Office and NYPD. Facilitate ongoing communications between ACS and the District Attorney’s Office. Process clearances requested by the DA Office and NYPD, routing clearances through the borough office per legal mandates. Receive DA “Decline to Prosecute” notices and distribute to appropriate unit supervisors. Receive subpoenas and obtain/submission of requested information to the DA in a timely fashion. Share information with the Department of Probation and State Division of Parole, where legally permitted. Track information on standardized logs for all cases sent to DA/NYPD and provide 30-day status updates. Participate in regular meetings with the IRT Coordinator, IRT Manager, and other staff to review compliance with the MOU and IRT protocol. In the absence of an IRT Coordinator, be directed to perform related duties. Qualifications

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by 24 semester credits in one or a combination of social work, psychology, sociology, human services, criminal justice, education (including early childhood), nursing or cultural anthropology; at least 12 of these credits must be in one of these disciplines; 30 semester credits toward a Masters of Social Work or related field; plus eighteen months of child protective casework experience. Note: Section 424-a of the New York Social Services Law requires inquiry into whether a candidate with child-caring responsibilities has been subject to a child abuse and maltreatment report. The preferred candidate must have a previous background as a Child Protection Specialist. Residency
