Overview
We’re looking for an entry-level Research Analyst to join the Idaho Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses (DOPL) Analytics team. The role supports Licensing, Investigations, Customer Experience, Finance, and other operational areas by transforming raw data into clear, actionable insights. The selected applicant will report to the Chinden Campus office. The Analytics team regulates more than 250,000 licensees across 44 Boards and Commissions and aims to inform decisions, improve efficiency, and strengthen public trust. Applications will be accepted through 4:59 PM MST on the posting end date. This position is based in Boise, Idaho. Responsibilities
Create reports and dashboards; run SQL queries to answer ad hoc questions; contribute to written analyses on topics such as licensing activity, fees, and customer interactions. Prepare and validate data; build recurring reports to support team operations; contribute to dashboard or research projects that present insights interactively and meaningfully. Collaborate with senior staff to understand business needs; explore data with curiosity; help uncover the story behind the numbers. Assist in collecting, preparing, and validating data using established procedures and tools; help maintain basic data collection or tracking tools; identify and correct data quality issues. Example Of Duties
Research Development: Collects, prepares, and validates data using established procedures and tools; develops and maintains basic data collection or tracking tools; identifies and corrects data quality issues; assists in improving data processes and reporting workflows. Data Analysis & Reporting: Compiles and edits data for recurring reports; performs preliminary analysis; writes SQL queries; develops dashboards or visualizations; drafts written summaries for management. Minimum Qualifications
Good knowledge of research methods and principles of statistics. Experience writing analytical (research) reports and using statistical software or spreadsheet software to perform statistical analysis. Preferred Qualifications
Experience using Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; experience using Tableau, SQL, and Python. Considerable experience using statistical software to perform statistical analysis, gained by at least two (2) years of professional work experience performing statistical analysis, interpreting and communicating results; OR a relevant degree focused on compiling and analyzing data and drawing conclusions.
