Overview
Senior Project Architect - Commercial Construction. Location: Downers Grove, IL. This role focuses on shaping and executing innovative, functional, and code-compliant design solutions for commercial construction projects, with emphasis on medical and dental offices. The ideal candidate brings strong conceptual design skills, technical expertise, and a collaborative mindset to deliver results from concept through construction. Responsibilities
Conceptual Design
Develop initial design concepts based on client requirements, budget, and site conditions. Create sketches, renderings, and 3D models to communicate design ideas visually.
Space Planning
Analyze and plan building layouts for optimal functionality, accessibility, and efficiency. Incorporate user needs and workflow considerations into the design process.
Technical Drawings
Produce detailed technical drawings, including floor plans, elevations, sections, and construction details. Utilize CAD and design software (e.g., Revit, Bluebeam) for precision and efficiency.
Material and Finish Selection
Specify materials, finishes, and color schemes aligned with the design intent and project requirements. Collaborate with interior designers and specialists to ensure a cohesive aesthetic.
Client and Stakeholder Collaboration
Engage with clients to understand vision, expectations, and functional requirements. Present design proposals, gather feedback, and refine concepts to meet project goals. Ensure all designs comply with local building codes, zoning laws, and permitting requirements. Assist in obtaining necessary approvals for proposed designs.
Project Management
Oversee the execution of design intent during the construction phase. Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and consultants to resolve design-related challenges.
Site Analysis
Conduct site visits and assessments to understand environmental and contextual factors. Incorporate site-specific considerations into overall design solutions.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Architecture from an accredited institution. 10+ years of proven experience in commercial architectural design, with a portfolio showcasing a range of projects through CD and CA phases. Proficiency in architectural design software Revit and Bluebeam. Strong creative and analytical thinking skills. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Benefits
