The Role
As a Power Systems Model Engineer at AspenTech, you will engage in the conversion and development of customer data using ETL (Extract Transform Load) processes to generate high-fidelity customer distribution network models for AspenTech software. Under the supervision of a Subject Matter Expert, you will be responsible for generating and refining working DMS data models. You will focus on understanding existing customer data sources, their schema, and representation, and applying this knowledge to rapid model development. You will be highly engaged with our customers, participating in all project delivery activities. This position provides broad exposure to the entire OSI ADMS system and opportunities to work across functional teams including Power Model Engineers, Subject Matter Experts, DMS and OMS engineers.
Your Impact
Participate in design, planning, and execution of ADMS projects.
Contribute to customer workshops focused on data modeling.
Support customer data quality assessments.
Extract data from various sources, including databases, web services, and APIs.
Transform data by cleaning, formatting, and validating it.
Develop and maintain data quality checks, and execute system and acceptance testing with customers.
Document and improve ETL processes and procedures, and document implementation processes and project deliverables.
Conduct technical workshops and user training sessions.
Identify and analyze database queries associated with ETL workflows.
Tune SQL queries and indexes to improve query execution times.
Monitor and troubleshoot ETL performance issues.
Interface with utilities GIS teams to extract, translate, and load the electrical network model to the Distribution Management System.
Configure and integrate software components to meet contract requirement specifications and test with customers.
Document, codify, implement and enforce processes that lead to faster, more efficient ADMS model delivery.
Develop and maintain data modeling training materials for internal and external use.
Engage in projects as a model engineer building and maintaining accurate network models using Monarch NMM software.
Participate in end-to-end modeling solutions, including design, GIS data mapping, review, configuration, and system integration to build NMM network models through ETL processes.
Support sales, customer success, and proposal efforts with technical insight.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of modeling practices.
What You'll Need
Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, or a related field
Familiarity with ETL tools and methodologies
Understanding of geospatial data concepts and principles
Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages (Python, Perl, etc.)
Experience troubleshooting complex systems and software applications
Strong communication skills, both verbally and written
Proven ability to organize and prioritize work within tight timelines
Willingness to travel (25% average)
Experience in the Utility Power Industry or equivalent preferred
The salary range for this role is $64,200.00 - $80,200.00. This range represents what we in good faith believe is the range possible for base compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may pay more or less than the posted range based on several factors. This role is also eligible for bonus or variable incentive pay. Additionally, we offer a comprehensive benefits package including paid time off, charitable giveback day, medical/dental/vision insurance, and retirement benefits to eligible employees.
