Supervisor Specimen Processing & Automated Line - FT - Day/Eve at Nuvance Health Summary: Supervises the activities of the Laboratory Technical Aides in the preparation of patient specimens and is responsible for proper function of the front end-equipment and automated line required for patient testing. Responsibilities
Supervises the operations of Specimen Processing and Front End Automation by organizing work and directing staff so that all tasks are accomplished. Is responsible for staff scheduling to ensure coverage in the department and across all shifts. Prepares section payroll and time sheets as required. Functions as the subject matter expert for lab automation equipment, specimen processing and any add-on testing. Troubleshoots instrument malfunction when needed and works with vendors to resolve issues. Recommends and implements system process changes to increase efficiency and accuracy of workflow. Oversees the hiring, orientation, training, and evaluation of staff to build a team and assure quality of service. Ensures employee competency and education requirements as well as annual performance reviews for the Laboratory Technical Aides as per hospital policy. Maintains procedure manuals to use as a reference guide for providing service to assure consistency of operations. Oversees and maintains proper inventory for automated line and processing supplies. Responsible for proper completion of scheduled instrument maintenance of automated equipment and recording of temperatures and all ancillary readings. Assists with preparation of monitors, quality and performance indicators/volumes as defined. Participates in the Quality Assurance program and department management meetings when applicable to promote continuous quality/performance improvement. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position and assures delivery of quality department /clinical services in accordance with established hospital and regulatory/accreditation agency standards. Communicates effectively with the Lab Management for proper follow-up of pending issues and performs audits as defined by Lab Management. Attends Management/Leadership meetings as scheduled/required and communicates hospital policies, performance improvement initiatives and all other required information to staff. Oversees work procedures and monitors activities to ensure a safe environment for employees. Achieves the organization’s established expectations with regard to quality service, teamwork, and self-development. Promotes teamwork among staff members, fosters positive employee morale and ensures compliance with hospital and regulatory requirements. Demonstrates the ability to work collaboratively with clients, departments, co-workers and medical staff. Performs other duties as assigned. Other Information
