Overview

Primary Care Physician role at U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Location: Battle Creek, MI; St. Joseph, MI; Niles, MI; South Haven, MI; Coloma, MI; Watervliet, MI. This position is open until filled. Applicants referred weekly for consideration until filled. Duties

Diagnose, treat, and manage patients in outpatient and inpatient settings using standard methods and techniques. Enter accurate, complete, timely progress notes in the electronic record (CPRS). Maintain and calibrate specialized equipment; adhere to safety, health, infection control, ergonomic standards; report unsafe conditions. Assist in orientation of new staff; provide patient and family education, including informed consent. Maintain supplies and clinical areas to optimize safety and efficiency. Demonstrate knowledge and standards in use and reprocessing of Reusable Medical Equipment (RME). Participate in performance improvement activities, disaster preparedness, administrative duties, and other responsibilities as assigned by the Associate Chief of Staff for Medical Service. Work schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm; hours may be extended based on needs. Requirements and Qualifications

U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited per VA policy. Pre-employment requirements: urinalysis, background/security investigation, online onboarding, acceptable ID per I-9, Real ID compliance after May 7, 2025. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Probationary period may be required. Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program for VA Health Care Personnel. Board eligibility/certification: Preferred board-certified (or board-eligible) in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine. Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an approved school; licensure to practice in a U.S. state/territory/DC; residency training approved by VA; eligibility for board certification. Other requirements: successful completion of licensure, background checks, and other pre-employment screenings. Education and Licensure

Degree of Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from an LCME- or AOA-accredited program; for certain cases, ECFMG verification may be required for foreign medical graduates. Current, full and unrestricted medical license in a U.S. state/territory/DC. Proficiency in English; ability to obtain VA privileges and employment eligibility. Benefits and Compensation
