Job Summary Pediatric Burn Program; Pediatric Trauma Center Key Responsibilities
Provide integrated behavioral health services in the Pediatric Burn Program and Pediatric Trauma Center. Provide integrated behavioral health services in ambulatory surgical clinics and on inpatient medical floors for children with burn injuries or traumatic injuries. Conduct Acute Stress Disorder, PTSD, and psychosocial screening for pediatric burn and trauma patients and families that experienced complex injuries. Provide evaluation, consultation, individual, family and multifamily intervention for the youth fire setting program in collaboration with the disruptive behavior disorders clinic. Collabor collaboratively with other psychosocial providers to coordinate peer support volunteers and programming (e.g., Phoenix SOAR community events). Deliver individual, family, and group-based services for surgical patients seen in the burn program and the trauma surgical clinic. Consult with pediatric surgery teams to address behavioral health and environmental factors that impact child well-being, quality of life, and trauma recovery; collaborate with social work, family navigators, and community health liaisons to deliver comprehensive, team-based care. Use evidence-based assessment and treatment approaches for children and adolescents seen in the burn program and trauma center with a wide range of behavioral, developmental, and mental health concerns. Supervise psychology trainees rotating in the department of surgery. Engage in teaching and scholarship, including collaboration on grants and contracts with hospital and community partners. Minimum Qualifications Instructor 1-3 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience. PhD and/or PsyD from an APA-accredited program. Prior experience in a pediatric health psychology setting and/or trauma treatment serving children and adolescents. Sr. Instructor 1-3 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience. PhD and/or PsyD from an APA-accredited program. Prior pediatric health psychology or trauma treatment experience. Assistant Professor 1-3 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience. PhD and/or PsyD from an APA-accredited program. Prior pediatric health psychology or trauma treatment experience. Associate Professor 4-7 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience. PhD and/or PsyD from an APA-accredited program. Prior pediatric health psychology or trauma treatment experience. Professor 7+ years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience. PhD and/or PsyD from an APA-accredited program. Prior pediatric health psychology or trauma treatment experience. Preferred Qualifications Experience with pediatric populations with medical complexity, injuries, or burns. Validated use of developmentally appropriate screening and assessment tools. Experience with evidence-based treatments including motivational interviewing, consultation models, and flexible application of CBT. Multidisciplinary teamwork with surgeons, psychosocial providers, trainees, and colleagues. Experience consulting with professional colleagues and staff. Commitment to multiculturalism and diverse populations. Experience aiding patients with community and school reintegration after injury or illness. Spanish language ability is preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to work effectively with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students. Clinical skill for brief, targeted assessments and consultations in integrated care settings. Ability to work in a team and independently. Flexibility and adaptability. Excellent written and verbal communication, including presentations to community and professional audiences. Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain organization.
