Job Summary Under general supervision of the Executive Director of Academic Advising Enrichment, this position will provide wide ranging and complex academic advising to an assigned caseload of students. The Aggie Success Advisor and Retention Specialist, Advising Training and Development Lead collaborates with multiple stakeholders to design, develop, and implement specialized academic advising interventions that support campus advisors, and student success and retention. This position supports Academic Advising Enrichment in developing and enacting a framework for equitable advising at UC Davis, and leads the development and implementation of AAE's academic advising training and development programs to advance the mission and goals of Academic Advising Enrichment.

Key Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience.

Advanced knowledge and experience counseling and advising students in an academic environment at the university/college level, including skills to facilitate student learning, development, and success, and to instruct students in policies and procedures.

Experience proactively addressing and managing challenging situations and/or individuals; supporting students experiencing academic difficulty; and referring students to appropriate resources that facilitate student success.

Problem solving skills and experience to identify and document patterns of student academic needs and to develop strategies and programs to successfully meet those needs.

Experience designing, implementing, and evaluating training and development programs, planning, coordinating and executing projects, working with multiple stakeholders.

Skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a collaborative and cross-cultural environment; and to effectively collaborate with individuals, units, and departments across campus to meet the needs of students, or other constituents as appropriate.

Demonstrated leadership and analysis skills to understand complex policies and interpret and apply rules and philosophy, practices and ability to think strategically.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in related area and /or equivalent experience / training.

Experience accessing, entering and maintaining information on Banner and OASIS.

Experience developing and implementing workshops and seminars for students.

Experience developing outreach/recruitment/retention programming.

Experience implementing management policies, practices, and decisions.

Experience operationalizing diversity, equity, and inclusion in organizations.

Demonstrated ability to apply multicultural and student development theories to advising.

Knowledge of the university policies, requirements and procedures related to undergraduate students.

Knowledge of statewide, national and international college and university programs and resources.

Knowledge of campus administrative reporting deadlines and of procedures related to advising and instructional processes.

Skills to research constructs and emerging trends, nationally, in academic advising, including program development, implementation and evaluation.
