Overview
Data Protection Country Officer role at Liebherr USA. The Country Officer for Data Protection will act as the central point of contact and coordinating instance for all data protection related issues for all US companies within the Liebherr Group. The officer will provide expert and professional support to ensure that US companies within the Liebherr Group comply with applicable national data protection regulations relevant to the handling of personal and business data. The duties include setting up/designing a data protection organization within the United States and establishing it with the necessary data protection responsibility company officers. As the central point of contact, key data protection issues and topics in the country will be managed. Data protection stakeholders within the organization will be advised and supported. Responsibilities
The role reports to the Head of Group Data Protection and coordinates in the US.
Structure and organize the data protection function in the US.
Create, implement and maintain data protection policies, processes and organization in the United States.
Implement necessary processes (incident response, data subject requests, risk assessment, data mapping, etc.).
Support US companies in implementing IT data protection regulations requirements.
Organize and implement data protection training measures.
Conduct regular risk assessments and audits of data systems and implement corrective actions.
Provide advice and support in data protection issues.
Serve as the central unit for data protection in the USA and coordinate data protection topics.
Prepare guidelines on processes, specifications, and recommendations for action.
Provide clarification and guidance on data protection issues to company officers, management, and internal Liebherr employees as required.
Incident management: Manage and report data breaches and other data-related incidents, ensuring timely resolution and reporting to authorities.
Monitor and report on regulatory developments in the USA.
Serve as centralized subject matter expert on applicable national or state data protection regulations to support US companies and company officers.
Record, monitor and report on regulatory developments at state and federal levels for data protection topics.
Monitor compliance with data protection policies and requirements.
Act as the Data Protection Company Officer for Liebherr USA, Co. and Liebherr Mining Equipment Newport News, Co.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Law, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field. A master’s degree or relevant certification (e.g., CIPP, CIPM, CIPT) is preferred.
Minimum 5 years of experience in data protection, compliance, or related field. Corporate environment experience highly desirable.
