Overview Senior Manager, Data Center Construction – Oracle

This role is part of the Data Center Infrastructure Construction team at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. The team delivers state-of-the-art data center facilities at scale, with professionals in project management, commissioning, and construction who ensure successful execution of complex data center construction projects. The team focuses on quality, efficiency, sustainability, and leveraging innovative technologies to support Oracle Cloud Infrastructure's data needs and growth.

Responsibilities

The role focuses on base building and MEP infrastructure, as well as high-density liquid cooling tenant fit outs.

Project Oversight: Lead and manage data center construction by colocation providers, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to high quality standards.

Schedule Management: Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, coordinating with colocation providers to meet milestones.

Risk Evaluation: Independently analyze projects to evaluate risk profiles for timely delivery, identify gaps, and inform business of potential impacts.

Tenant Fit Out Integration: Coordinate and integrate the scope of tenant fit-out projects across design, construction, and commissioning phases.

Quality Assurance: Implement and oversee quality control processes to ensure compliance with design specifications and industry standards.

Design Coordination: Collaborate with design teams to align construction activities with approved plans and specifications.

Stakeholder Communication: Serve as primary contact between the company and colocation providers to facilitate clear communication.

Risk Management: Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success.

Compliance: Ensure construction activities comply with relevant regulations, codes, and standards.

Continuous Improvement: Provide ongoing colocation provider evaluation input.

Site Activities: Conduct regular project visits to monitor schedule, coordination, and quality throughout the project lifecycle.

Required Skills

Extensive knowledge of base building data center construction (civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, controls, and plumbing).

Project management experience for startup and commissioning phases of major data center projects.

Problem-solving: Strong analytical abilities to address complex challenges in a fast-paced construction environment.

Strategic Planning: Experience in developing and implementing long-term construction program strategies.

Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of data center design, construction, and operational requirements with focus on sustainability.

Leadership: Ability to lead, mentor, and inspire a diverse team of project managers, engineers, and construction professionals.

Budget Management: Skills in creating and optimizing project budgets for cost-effective resource use.

Risk Management: Ability to identify and mitigate risks to minimize impact on timelines and costs.

Vendor Management: Experience in selecting, negotiating, and managing contracts with external vendors and contractors.

Regulatory Compliance: Knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and policies to ensure compliance.

Communication: Strong verbal and written communication for effective stakeholder engagement and updates.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.

Minimum 10 years of experience in construction project management, focusing on data center or colocation infrastructure (general contractor, colocation provider, or hyperscaler).

Proven track record of managing large-scale construction projects.

Strong understanding of construction processes, quality control, and design coordination.

Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Willingness to travel; travel may be 25% or more at times.

Benefits and Other US Hiring Range: $120,100 – $251,600 per year. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
