Position Summary Sam's Club is our membership warehouse club, a business model that provides our members with high-quality products at prices that are unrivaled by traditional retail. Sam's Club provides a carefully curated assortment of items, as well as developing and leading technologies and services such as Scan & Go, Club Pickup, and home delivery service in select markets. Sam's Club also provides travel, auto purchasing, pharmacy, optical, hearing aid centers, tire and battery centers, and a portfolio of business operations support services.

What You'll Do

Strategic Planning & Alignment

Serve as a trusted advisor and thought partner to the VP of Engineering, providing insight, clarity, and data-driven recommendations.

Drive the engineering strategy and roadmap, ensuring alignment with Sam’s Club and Walmart Global Tech priorities.

Act as a bridge between Engineering, Product, Operations, and Finance, ensuring seamless cross-functional communication and alignment.

Facilitate quarterly planning, OKR reviews, and roadmap discussions that connect vision to measurable outcomes.

Communications & Reporting

Craft compelling presentations, reports, and narratives for executives, stakeholders, and team-wide communications.

Lead operational cadences such as staff meetings, tech excellence reviews, and OKR updates to ensure focus and follow-through.

Partner with internal communications teams to facilitate all-hands meetings, AMAs, and key announcements that strengthen team culture and engagement.

Operational Leadership

Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, simplify processes, and enhance productivity across engineering teams.

Oversee budgeting, vendor contracts, and P&L management in partnership with Finance.

Support hiring, onboarding, and retention strategies, working closely with Engineering Managers, Talent, and HR to build diverse, high-performing teams.

Define and track engineering OKRs, ensuring alignment with broader Global Tech objectives.

Special Projects & Initiatives

Lead or support high-impact initiatives such as GenAI integration, Audit Readiness, AES implementation, and other time-sensitive cross-functional programs.

Partner with central Walmart and Sam’s Club teams to drive alignment and cohesion across organizational initiatives.

Serve as the execution driver for innovation-focused projects and continuous improvement efforts that elevate engineering impact.

What You’ll Bring

Proven experience in technology strategy, program management, or engineering operations at scale.

Exceptional ability to translate strategic vision into actionable execution plans.

Strong communication, influencing, and executive presentation skills.

Experience managing budgets, headcount planning, and operational KPIs.

A growth mindset, with a passion for building teams, driving innovation, and creating operational excellence.

Minimum Qualifications

Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, industrial engineering, engineering management, business, information systems, project/program management, information technology, finance, management, or related area and 6 years’ experience in project management, program management, program operations, or related area.

Option 2: 8 years’ experience in project management, program management, program operations, or related area.

3 years’ supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in computer science, management information systems, industrial engineering, engineering management, business, information systems, project/program management, information technology, finance, management, or related area and 5 years' experience in project management, program management, program operations, or related area.
