Job Title:
Intensivist / Critical Care Physician
Schedule:
Varied 12-hour and occasional 6-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Salary:
Contractual / Based on MGMA standards
Reports To:
Medical Director, ICU
Position Summary:
White Plains Hospital is seeking a full‑time Intensivist Physician to join its expanding Critical Care service line. As a key member of the multidisciplinary ICU team, the Intensivist will work in a 24/7 model alongside Advanced Practice Providers, managing a diverse range of complex Medical, Surgical, Neurologic, and Cardiac cases. The ideal candidate will be Board Eligible or Board Certified in Critical Care Medicine.
Responsibilities include performing procedures, responding to codes, and collaborating with various specialties to deliver exceptional patient‑centered care. The ICU fosters a collaborative, high‑performance culture committed to clinical excellence and innovation.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
Manage the care of critically ill patients, including evaluation, treatment, admission, and discharge
Communicate effectively with patients, families, consulting physicians, and hospital staff
Provide education to ICU staff, patients, and families
Supervise ICU Advanced Practice Providers (NPs and PAs)
Respond promptly in emergency situations, including codes
Accurately document patient evaluations, treatments, and plans of care
Remain on campus during scheduled shifts
Participate in ICU meetings and continuing medical education activities
Engage in quality improvement initiatives including chart reviews and LOS management
Contribute to institutional efforts such as disaster preparedness and safety programs
Perform other duties as assigned
Education & Experience Requirements
Medical Degree (MD or DO) with fellowship training in Critical Care Medicine
Board Eligible or Board Certified in Critical Care Medicine
Active and unrestricted NYS Medical License
Current ACLS Certification
Meets CME requirements at the hospital, regional, and federal levels
