What We're Building

At General Intelligence Company (GIC), we're building highly-capable autonomous agents for startups. Our goal is to enable the one-person, one-billion-dollar company. Our agents don't just automate workflows - they replace them. We need an infrastructure and platform engineer with deep systems expertise to build and maintain the scalable, reliable infrastructure that powers our AI agent platform. Our system handles complex distributed workloads, from AI model inference to multi-tenant agent orchestration. We're looking for someone who can architect resilient infrastructure, optimize for performance at scale, and ensure our platform can grow from thousands to millions of agent executions seamlessly. What You'll Do

Design and implement scalable infrastructure architecture for AI agent workloads

Build and maintain cloud infrastructure using modern IaC tools like Terraform, ensuring reliable deployments across multiple environments.

Optimize system performance and cost efficiency for high-throughput workloads, including resource management and auto-scaling.

Implement robust monitoring, alerting, and observability systems to maintain 99.9%+ uptime for mission-critical agent operations.

Work closely with engineering teams to ensure seamless CI/CD pipelines and zero-downtime deployments.

Build security-first infrastructure with proper access controls, secrets management, and compliance frameworks.

Work in fast, iterative cycles—no bloated backlogs, just continuous improvement and scaling.

Translate our core principles into infrastructure:

Cycle time is key. You deploy quickly and iterate.

Quality matters. Your infrastructure stands on its own.

No backlogs. Build what's needed, when it's needed.

FITFO. You figure things out independently.

Ownership mindset. You think and act like an owner.

Who You Are

4+ years of experience building and scaling production infrastructure, preferably in high-growth startups

Experience with SRE monitoring and observability tools like Datadog, and building robust alerting systems

Proficiency in Python and infrastructure automation scripting

Experience with PostgreSQL performance optimization, connection pooling, and database scaling strategies

Strong Linux system administration skills and understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing)

Strong knowledge of FastAPI and Python web frameworks for building high-performance backend infrastructure

Strong experience with Terraform for infrastructure-as-code and automated deployments

Familiarity with AWS and cloud deployment best practices

Experience with Docker containerization and container orchestration for development and deployment workflows

Security-minded approach with experience in network security, secrets management, and compliance

You move fast and have experience in high-velocity teams where infrastructure enables rapid iteration

You thrive in high-agency environments and take initiative to solve problems before they become critical

You're excited by AI and shaping the future of work through reliable, scalable infrastructure

The Stack

Our infrastructure is designed for reliability, scalability, and developer velocity: Render for hosting and deployments

Modal for agent deployments and compute

Supabase for data persistence and backend services

Redis Cloud for caching and distributed task processing

Inngest for background job processing and workflow orchestration

GitHub Actions for CI/CD automation and deployments

You must use cursor or other similar AI IDE tooling

What's Different About GIC?

No bureaucracy.

We hire smart, high-agency people and let them work.

Real ownership.

You won't just maintain systems—you'll architect the future.

Small, elite team.

Work directly with founders and have a major impact.

Craft matters.

Speed is key, but reliability is never sacrificed.

In person, in New York City.

How to Apply

Send us your work—infrastructure you've built, GitHub repos, or systems you've scaled - and a resume. Don't write a cover letter, nobody reads those. Other requirements
