Colgate University is seeking an Accounting Assistant. The pay range for this position is $20.00/hr - $22.00/hr.
Job Summary
The Accounting Assistant will be responsible for reviewing and entering accounts payable invoices, corresponding with campus partners and vendors, and providing support for financial questions.
Accountabilities
- Reviewing and entering accounts payable invoices, including those related to purchase orders and student reimbursements.
- Corresponding with campus partners and vendors for missing invoices related to purchase orders and monthly billing cycles.
- Providing timely, accurate, and courteous information to vendor questions.
- Processing weekly check run and preparation of required documentation.
- Monthly reconciliation of abandoned property.
General Office
- Serving as initial point of contact for customer service support for in-office visitors.
- Office supply replenishment.
- Other general administrative job-related duties as assigned.
Professional Experience/Qualifications
- Relevant experience with accounts payable, payment cycles, and correspondence with third-parties.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong customer service experience and the ability to professionally interact and serve as a resource.
- Excellent understanding and use of applications and third-party systems, including Excel and Gmail.
- Maintenance of sensitive information with strict confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three or more years of hands-on accounting experience.
- Previous experience in an academic setting.
Education
An Associate’s degree in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Finance or similar field, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable skills are obtained is required.
Work Schedule
Monday through Friday, business hours.
