Overview Production Planner role at Goodwill Industries of South Florida. Ensures Apparel Manufacturing products are produced cost-effectively while meeting quality, product specifications, and customer demand by ensuring that fabric and components are delivered on time, meeting the production plan, with just-in-time delivery and low inventory cost and quantity.
Base pay $72,000.00/yr - $80,000.00/yr
Responsibilities Plans, analyzes, and initiates requisitions for fabric and components to meet production schedules according to contract and delivery orders
Collaborates with other departments and stakeholders to identify and maintain resources needed to establish and provide an effective supply chain.
Establishes performance metrics for measuring, comparing, or evaluating factors affecting the supply chain.
Maintains the required supplies and materials to optimize production, minimize costs, and just-in-time inventory.
Assists the Cutting department by building biweekly cut plans to meet customer delivery requirements.
Analyzes delays, interruptions, and current inventories accordingly to adjust production schedules to meet deadlines.
Verifies Bill of material yields and warehouse inventories required for planning purposes.
May negotiate prices for material and delivery with suppliers, vendors, and other organizations and work closely with the Purchasing team.
Participates as an advisor to the Production team, providing information and guidance on the availability and cost of supplies, materials, and equipment.
Troubleshoot problems during production due to fabric and components quality issues.
Escalates complex issues to Management for resolution.
Investigate and analyze root causes and provide solutions.
Communicate the status of fabric and components to the management team regularly.
Is part of the team coordinating any engineering changes, product line reordering or new product launches to ensure timely and orderly material/components and production flow transitions.
Monitors the performance of suppliers, assessing their ability to meet quality and delivery requirements; identifies and qualifies new suppliers in collaboration with other departments.
Supports Continuous Improvement initiatives.
All other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities Responsible for indirect supervision and coordination with purchasing personnel necessary to convert material requisitions into purchase orders.
