Inventory Controller

The Inventory Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of inventory management across Horizon Services and affiliated entities. This role ensures accuracy in inventory valuation, reporting, and internal controls, while partnering with Operations, Procurement, and Accounting to optimize working capital and ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies. Key Responsibilities:
Lead all aspects of inventory accounting, including standard costing, adjustments, and monthly close activities.
Develop and maintain policies and procedures to ensure accurate and timely recording of inventory transactions.
Analyze inventory reserves, obsolescence, and shrinkage; propose appropriate adjustments and accruals.
Coordinate and oversee physical counts, cycle counts, and reconciliation of variances.
Partner with Procurement and Operations to monitor material usage, returns, and cost trends.
Review and validate COGS including Equipment, Materials and Consumables
Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting packages, KPIs, and variance analysis for management review.
Support ERP system enhancements related to inventory and cost accounting modules.
Develop and maintain strong internal controls.
Supervise and develop inventory accounting staff.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or CMA preferred.
7+ years of progressive experience in inventory or cost accounting, preferably in a multi-location service or manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of US GAAP, inventory valuation methods, and standard costing.
Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP systems (e.g., Sage Intacct, Service Titan) preferred.
Demonstrated leadership ability and cross-functional communication skills.
Travel Requirements
This position requires 25% of domestic travel.
Travel may include overnight stays given domestic travel within the Horizon footprint.
Flexibility in schedule is essential to accommodate travel needs.
